Per-Una-Corda is driven by a deep artistic connection to Iannis Xenakis and my fascination for swarm-based music, where individuality dissolves into a greater sonic presence.

Xenakis’ view of sound as architectural motion — precisely built yet constantly shifting — resonates strongly throughout the piece. Ideas from his iconic solo works (Mikka, Nomos Alpha, Kottos, Embellie, Theraps) circulate as sonic traces woven into a new fabric.

The use of 12 monochords, each reduced to a single string, reflects a return to the core of vibration — yet multiplied into a pulsating collective field shaped by performers with diverse backgrounds.

The graphic score translates turbulence and particulate motion into visual trajectories. The conductor controls density, speed and spatial direction in real time. Space and audience energy play an active role: no performance will ever sound the same.

Recorded live at the M HKA, the piece thrives in an environment where architecture and sound merge seamlessly.

A tribute to Xenakis —
and a celebration of shared musical vitality.

One string becoming many.
